Sonoco Consumer Products Zwenkau GmbH
The Sonoco Group is an international full-service provider for innovative packaging solutions. These include consumer goods packaging, industrial products, and supply chain services. Headquarter of Sonoco is Hartsville, South Carolina. Worldwide, Sonoco employs around 21,000 people at 330 locations (as of August 2017). Sonoco Consumer Products Zwenkau GmbH has been part of the Sonoco Group since 2014 and produces plastic and composite cans, primarily for the food industry.
Due to increasing production volumes, Sonoco Consumer Products Zwenkau GmbH commissioned a new plant construction at the end of 2016. On approximately 4,300 m² production area and 5,000 m² logistics area (warehouse and shipping) the Zwenkau site is operating in 3 shifts per day. LOGSOL developed the warehouse concept for the new warehouse between April 2016 and August 2017, including an efficient material flow. Project focus were the finished goods warehouse (including connected shipment processes) as well as the production supply warehouse for cardboard packaging and labels. First, LOGSOL analyzed the warehouse processes and gained detailed insight into the customer-specific processes. Based on relevant key figures, a quantity structure was developed in the next step. This was followed by a complete dimensioning of the storage zones and the planning of the material flows, layouts, and logistics equipment within the specified building structure. After the design phase, the furnishing planning of the logistics areas and the specifications for the new equipment were developed during the detailed planning. During the implementation phase, LOGSOL supported Sonoco Consumer Products Zwenkau GmbH in execution, relocation, and commissioning and coordinated the results with the relevant areas and trades.
On time, Sonoco went into operation with the warehouse concept for the new plant created by LOGSOL.
